There is a lot of debate around whether or not P90x has cardio. Some people say that it does, while others maintain that the program is strictly for strength training. So, what’s the truth?
Well, it depends on what you mean by “cardio.” P90x is not a cardiovascular exercise program, in the same sense that running is. The closest you get to real cardiovascular exercise on P90x is arguably either Kenpo X or Ab Ripper X, and even then it’s not exactly the same type of cardio as jogging or biking.
P90x uses what they call “cardio acceleration” instead. This means that the program is designed to get your heart rate up and keep it there, using a variety of exercises that are meant to be as efficient as possible.
So, while you might not be getting the same type of cardiovascular workout you would from, say, running for an hour straight, P90x is still definitely doing something to increase your heart rate and improve your cardiovascular health.
Will you get the same type of workout as you would from traditional cardio? Probably not. But that’s not what P90x is meant for. If you’re looking for a hardcore cardio workout, then P90x might not be the right program for you. However, if you want to improve your overall fitness and get in great shape, then P90x is definitely a program worth trying.
What are some good Cardio Workouts in P90x?
P90x has three workouts specifically labeled “Cardio X”, Kenpo X, Yoga X and Ab Ripper X. All of these are considered great cardio workouts! But if you want to know what I prefer…I like the Cardio workouts the best.
Kenpo is fast-paced (which may or may not be your thing) and Yoga is slow and steady, but the Ab Ripper X is my favorite because it’s only about 15 minutes long and really gets your heart rate up! So if you’re looking for a good cardio workout in P90x, any of those three will do!
But like I said before, the whole program is great for cardio health, if you want my advice just do whatever moves get your heart pumping!
If you’re looking to build muscle and lose weight, I would say go with the regular P90x program. But if you have a specific goal in mind for cardio work, then I would recommend Ab Ripper X or any of the Cardio workouts. Check out the detailed p90x review.
What’s a good alternative to P90x if I don’t want cardio?
If you’re not interested in doing cardio, then I would recommend Power 90. It’s a great program that can help you lose weight and build muscle, but it doesn’t have the same focus on cardio that P90x does. So if you’re looking for something more strength training focused, then give Power 90 a try.
I hope this article helped you better understand whether or not P90x has cardio! Just remember, the program is good for all-around fitness and wellness…so if you want to include some cardio in with your weight training, anything from Ab Ripper X on will do! If not, no worries, there are plenty of other great programs to choose from! Thanks for reading!
